Several pages have creased corners, very tight binding. This hard to find volume on upper Michigan's mineral resources was written by editor and former governor of Alaska Alfred P. Swineford. In the preface he thanks John F. Forster for his contributions to the historical portion of the book; this copy is personally INSCRIBED by Forster and on page three he has also written "Most by J.H. Forster as far as Copper Region is concerned." On front endpaper "Presented to Williamston Grange by John H. Forster May 1890." Early mining explorations, pioneers, mining companies, their history and company officers, etc., arranged by district, several pages of advertisements. A one of a kind copy of an uncommon Michigan book. 280 pp.
